Glastonbury contains beautiful riverfront properties, historical districts and is amongst wonderful restaurants with delectable dining, storefront shopping, and contains an atmosphere of an old-thyme community ripe for walking.
Glastonbury offers many family-oriented community events. During the warmer seasons musical performances are played weekly on the town green as well as many diverse art and craft bazaars, including the annually and highly anticipated Apple Harvest Festival.
If art is your forte, then the non-profit Glastonbury Art Guild may be of interest. They promote art appreciation, mentoring and instructing, hosting and promoting art exhibitions, and awarding scholarships.
If you’re the outdoors type, Glastonbury offers over 20 parks and nature preserves for hiking and biking, local access to the Connecticut River for fishing and boating, and a nine-hole golf course.
The Connecticut Audubon Society Center has a location right in Glastonbury uniquely located close to the Connecticut River, dedicated to promoting awareness of the river’s ecosystem and the wildlife it supports.
There are over 30 farms and produce stands in Glastonbury which allows the hand picking of your own ripe fruit, and also great sources of fresh locally grown produce.
The Glastonbury Historical Society, dedicated to preserving the town’s history and past, and hosts several events which try to teach about life in Glastonbury during the colonial era, but they try also to be entertaining about it as well.
