East Hartford:
The city of Hartford use to span across the areas of East Hartford, West Hartford, and Manchester. East Hartford was founded in 1783 when that large area known as Hartford divided. Even then East Harford was part of the area currently known as Manchester and divided once again in 1823 when Manchester became an official town.
East Hartford contains many parks such as, but not limited to, East River Drive which is located along the Connecticut River, Elizabeth Shea Park, Hockanum Park, Nicholas Forum Park, Milbrook & Goodwin Playgrounds, Dr Richard E Gorman Park, and Wickham Park, which one-half is located in East Hartford and the other in Manchester.
Connecticut Boulevard is home to many businesses, offices, medical centers and car dealerships while East Hartford as a whole is littered with office buildings, retail centers, and medical offices.
Pratt & Whitney and the Coca-Cola bottling plant are both located on Main Street and are the two largest businesses in East Hartford.
The East Hartford Historical Society was founded in 1964 with the mission statement “instill into the townspeople of East Hartford a sense of the history of the town and to preserve for them this history, including physical properties remaining and the records of the past in the memories of the older citizens".
